Program overview

The Master of Information Technology program at Nilai University gives graduates access to state-of-the-art IT skills and expertise. Through a combination of academic study and practical projects, students learn about subjects including database administration, software development, network security, and IT project management. Graduates are prepared for careers as IT specialists in a variety of industries or for postgraduate study in specialized information technology subjects.

Entry Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, Malaysian Qualifications Framework) in Computing or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 3.00, as accepted by the HEP Senate.

Programme Module

The Master of Information Technology by Research Programme encompasses the following five phases:

Phase I – Pre-requisite Core** Course (3 credit hours)

  • Research Methodology and Statistics (Compulsory)

Phase II – Preliminary Research

  • This represents the first part of the master's research project and forms the basis on which students build their proposal and eventually their project.

Phase III – Proposal Defence

  • Each student must publicly present and defend his/her research proposals. The student is only allowed to continue with his/her research to Phase IV on passing of the defence of his/her proposal.

Phase IV – Thesis Preparation

  • The student proceeds to his/her data collection, data analysis and report writing.

Phase V – Viva Voce

  • After completion and submission of the thesis, the student is required to attend a Viva Voce to orally defend his/her thesis.

Available scholarships

  • International Discount (MENA Region)

    Up to 30% coverage

    A 30% tuition fee reduction is available to students originating from the MENA region. This discount features no prerequisite conditions and will be applied automatically to eligible student accounts upon enrollment.

  • International Discount

    Up to 50% coverage

    A 50% tuition fee reduction is available to all international students. To qualify, applicants must present their official high school certificate during the application process. To retain this 50% discount throughout their studies, students must maintain the required minimum CGPA at the end of every semester.

Entry requirements

Master's: a bachelor's degree in a related field.

Typically IELTS 6 or equivalent (TOEFL / PTE). Some universities offer a preparatory English program if you haven't reached the score yet.

Exact requirements vary by program, and an English certificate such as IELTS or an equivalent may be required.
