Candidates pursuing the Doctoral Degree in Mathematical Sciences will engage in high-quality and innovative research across the expansive field of mathematical sciences, emphasizing the beauty of numbers and algorithms and their practical applications in decision-making and problem-solving.

This research program is designed to enhance students' research skills in various intriguing areas of mathematics, including pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and applied statistics. Entry Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field from the University of Cyberjaya or any other institution recognised by the
  • Malaysian government, acceptable to the University.

Programme Structure

The programme consists of core modules and followed by a research thesis.

Modules

Candidates are required to complete three modules, namely Research Methodology, Academic Writing, and Research Proposal, in addition to the thesis component. By undergoing these modules, candidates will develop the necessary skills and knowledge to conduct research successfully towards the completion of the thesis.

Thesis

The PhD is awarded based on the successful completion of a thesis. The thesis should demonstrate proficiency, criticality and mastery in the subject or chosen area of research.

The School has a dedicated team of academicians and in-house actuaries who will mentor and discuss possible research topics with you in the following areas of research interests, but not limited to:

Entry requirements

PhD: a master's degree and a research proposal.

Typically IELTS 6 or equivalent (TOEFL / PTE). Some universities offer a preparatory English program if you haven't reached the score yet.

Exact requirements vary by program, and an English certificate such as IELTS or an equivalent may be required.
