The Master of Education (Teaching English as a Second Language) program at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia is designed to develop proficiency in applying and effectively communicating in-depth, relevant knowledge to solve problems critically and analytically in the field of Teaching English as a Second Language. This program emphasizes career advancement through lifelong learning and the acquisition of competencies in leadership, interpersonal skills, and digital literacy. It also promotes the practice of ethical principles and the cultivation of an entrepreneurial mindset within professional and societal contexts. By completing this program, students will be well-prepared to excel in the field of Teaching English as a Second Language, while positively impacting their careers and making meaningful contributions to society.

Entry Requirement

  • A Bachelor’s Degree with good honours from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia or any other institution of higher learning recognised by the Senate; or

For other qualifications and certificates (e.g., Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree , etc..) please contact our educational consultants or submit your application for Admission assessment.

Research Study Overview

Master (Taught Course)

MPPT 1105: Research Study I

  • Content: Proposal (Chapters 1-3)
  • Prerequisites: Recommended to take MPPU 1024 (Research Methodology) before registration.

MPPT 1205: Research Study II

  • Content: Report (All Chapters 1-5)
  • Prerequisites: Recommended to take MPPU 1034 (Statistics) before registration.

Important Guidelines

Timing:

  • RS I and RS II must be taken towards the end of your study; RS II should be in your final semester.
  • RS I and RS II cannot be registered in the same semester.

Supervisor Meetings:

  • Regular meetings with your supervisor are required, and marks are given for attendance.
  • Important dates (e.g., submission deadlines) can be found on the faculty’s website, not the SPS website.

Reporting:

  • Supervisors have the authority to fail students who do not engage in discussions about their work, even if a complete report is submitted at the end of the semester.

شروط القبول

الماجستير: شهادة بكالوريوس في مجال ذي صلة.

عادةً IELTS بدرجة 7 أو ما يعادلها (TOEFL / PTE). بعض الجامعات توفر برنامج لغة تحضيري لمن لم يحقق الدرجة.

تختلف الشروط الدقيقة حسب التخصص، وقد تُطلب شهادة لغة إنجليزية مثل IELTS أو ما يعادلها.
